Pacing Cities

Research - Computer Vision - Interactive Video Installation

It is common belief that technology has quickened the pace of daily life. The project questions and challenges notions of pace in relationship to urban conditions by revealing, mediating and transposing the walking speed of people between two different urban locations. This interactive artifice acts as an interface and activates an awareness of tempo between two places. Utilizing sensors, projection, and sound, users can react to the speed of pedestrians in another location and affect its movements through projective devices.

Project in collaboration with Steven Chen at Harvard University
